Please explore our website to find out how and when we offer services at Ulverston Health Centre.  We are currently taking new patients, please register with us.

Our reception area is now open .

If you or any member of your household have had any symptoms of Covid 19, or have been advised to self- isolate for 10 days you must not attend the surgery.

All our GP appointments are initially a telephone appointment, if the GP feels you should be seen they will arrange that.

If you have a pre-booked appointment with a Nurse or Health Care Assistant they will be in touch with you regarding arrangements.

If attending surgery for an appointment please arrive just a minute or two before your allotted time, and check in with the screens located next to the reception window.

Patients should wear a face covering whilst at the health centre.

If you need to drop off a prescription request please post in the box at the bottom of the stairs. Samples can be left in the box at the top of the stairs. Spare bottles and bags are located on the table underneath.

Any future prescriptions will be issued electronically directly to a pharmacy so please ensure you have told us where you would like yours sending.

Flu Vaccinations

We now have some appointments available to book for OVER 65 and Under 65 flu vaccinations.

You can book online or call the surgery after 10:30.
The clinics are running a little differently this year and we are working hard to ensure we keep them safe for patients and staff.
We will be adding more clinics at varying times and days in the near future.

Covid Vaccination Programme

We have now had official notice to start delivering the Covid vaccination Booster programme at UCHC.

Our practice is delivering this for patients registered at Ulverston GP surgeries (Dr Murray's & Dr Johnston's), Market Street Surgery, Askam Surgery and Duddon Valley Medical Practice. 

Invites will be sent out to these patients as soon as possible, either by text message or telephone call. 

You will be invited for a booster 6 month after your second vaccination.
Please DO NOT ring the surgery, we will be in touch with you. Our staff cannot answer any queries or make/cancel bookings and we need to leave our phone lines clear to continue to provide our regular GP services.

COVID vaccine status

Thank you for contacting the surgery enquiring about COVID vaccination certification.

We are unable to issue this certificate at the practice.  Please see the website for further information.

Proof of your vaccination status will be available on the NHS app, which is also valuable for accessing your health records and ordering repeat prescriptions.

The NHS app can be downloaded from here for iPhone or here for android.  

Alternatively, you can call the NHS helpline on 119 (from 17 May) and ask for a letter to be posted to you. This must be at least 5 days after you’ve completed your course of the vaccine, the letter may to take up to 5 days to reach you.


When we are closed please telephone NHS 111 by dialling 111.  You will be answered by a contact centre which will direct you to the correct department.
